About

Jenn Bahneman is a lifelong artist based in Seattle, known for her exceptional skills in sewing and a relentless passion for creativity. From a young age, Jenn immersed herself in the world of artistic expression, honing her craft and nurturing her talents. At the age of 14, she discovered her love for sewing, and it quickly became her primary medium of choice.

Driven by an unwavering desire to create, Jenn has explored various forms of artistry throughout her life, constantly pushing boundaries and experimenting with different techniques. Her artistic journey has been shaped by a profound connection to travel, which has enriched her perspective and inspired her creations.

Living in the vibrant and diverse Seattle area, Jenn draws inspiration from the city’s artistic energy and natural beauty. The dynamic culture and thriving arts community have provided her with a supportive environment to further develop her artistic prowess.

The name of the company is rooted in a cherished family experience. During a seaside trip, her granddaughter, Demi, was cautioned by her grandfather against putting something from the ocean into her mouth, citing concerns about “fish poop, whale poop and mermaid poop”. In a moment that encapsulated the innocence and imagination of childhood, Demi responded with the unforgettable remark, “Mermaids don’t have buttholes!” This memorable exchange became the inspiration behind the company’s name, symbolizing the blend of creativity, humor, and familial connection that defines Jenn’s work.  A tee was immediately created and the rest is, as they say, history.

Jenn’s art is a testament to her commitment to innovation and her ability to breathe life into her creations. Her sewing work showcases meticulous attention to detail, intricate designs, and a distinct sense of style. With each stitch, she weaves together a tapestry of emotions and experiences, capturing the essence of her artistic vision.

As an artist, Jenn is dedicated to sharing her passion with others. Through her work, she aims to evoke a sense of wonder, ignite imaginations, and invite viewers on a visual journey. She believes that art has the power to transcend boundaries, connect people from diverse backgrounds, and inspire a deeper appreciation for the beauty in everyday life.
